To gauge and improve the overall health of the breed, a health survey is in progress at the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) site. The French Bull Dog Club of America Health & Genetics Committee is conducting the survey, with the help and assistance of OFA and their website. (OFA provides this survey service to parent clubs free of charge to help them assess the health of their breed.)
This survey is open to anyone who has owned a French Bulldog between the years 2001 and 2011. Click the link below to go to the survey page. Once on the page, click “Answer Survey” to start the survey process.
2011 French Bulldog Health Survey
The survey’s purpose is to determine which areas of Frenchie health should receive the most focus for research and for grant money to improve the breed. Also, to get an overall feel of breed’s health status and to compare with results from a similar survey conducted ten years ago.
All results are anonymous and confidential. You will need each dog’s medical records handy for reference. If your Frenchie has been healthy, completing the survey will be quick. Questions deal with: health issues, what vaccinations have been given, type of food fed (raw, kibble, etc.), temperament, breeding issues, etc. For questions that don’t apply to your dog, just skip over them.
Results are automatically tabulated as people complete the survey and are constantly updated. You can review results prior to taking the survey and check back later to see how they are progressing in the weeks to come.
Take a few minutes. Share your Frenchie’s health data for his or her benefit and for the benefit of the breed.
