Thanks to cable and satel­lite com­pa­nies, you have Movies on Demand, Prime­time on Demand, and now…pets on demand! That’s right. Use your remote con­trol to surf out avail­able pets. It’s a new slant on home shop­ping where poten­tial new own­ers shop­ping for pets, view pets shop­ping for new homes!

This on-demand fea­ture has just been added to the Austin Time Warner Cable lineup. They have teamed up with the Austin Humane Soci­ety to offer short video clips of adopt­able pets on chan­nel 1400. Tune to chan­nel 200 in Waco/Temple/Killeen.

First look for “Com­mu­nity,” then “Paws on Demand.” A list of dogs and cats avail­able for adop­tion will appear, which you can click through and view at your leisure. The videos are short and shows the per­son­al­ity of each dog or cat.

Dur­ing the month of July, Time Warner Cable will DONATE A BUCK each time a video is viewed, up to $3,000. So even if you can’t adopt a pet, you can still help ani­mals in need. There is no cost to view (other than being a cable cus­tomer) and you can watch the videos as many times as you like. So grab your snorty couch potato part­ner and start surfing!
